01 . Project Brief
Our client wanted to develop an app that organizations, educational institutes, and the government can use to assess the suitability of candidates by offering comprehensive tests. Through research and client discussions, we compiled a list of features required to conduct reliable tests and developed an Android app with React Native.
02 . About the Client
TestNow is an app by Wheebox, a 100% subsidiary of ETS (Educational Testing Service) headquartered in Princeton New Jersey, United States. Wheebox has worked with more than 3000 clients and delivered millions of assessments for corporations, institutions, and governments across the globe.
03 . The Challenge
Traditionally, organizations must choose between the following two when testing candidates:
Testing candidates in a traditional setting where the candidates must be physically present at a testing center. This method offers more reliable results but is not very efficient as organizations need to spend resources to conduct the test and the candidates need to commute to the testing centers.
Online tests are far more convenient but do not offer the same level of reliability due to the lack of proctoring.
04 . The Solution
The solution is to develop an app that combines the reliability of traditional onsite tests with the convenience and efficiency of online tests. We discussed our client requirements in detail, considered technical feasibility, and finalized a set of features that will offer the best of both worlds in the form of the TestNow Android app.

05 . Challenges & Roadblocks
Developing TestNow required tackling multiple technical challenges to ensure both security and usability for high-stakes remote assessments. Implementing AI-driven proctoring, face recognition, and object detection demanded precise integration, and the addition of TypingDNA, ID authentication, and 360-degree room scanning introduced complex data handling and security protocols to protect candidate information and test integrity. We met all challenges through sound development practices, thorough testing, and continuous improvements.
06 . The Result
With 153 K+ tests conducted so far, the app was well received by organizations, educational institutes, and government entities.
